Fussy cat: which pouch number to try first

Advice · · Natural Code

The strictest judge has the last word — the cat. If your cat doesn’t finish the bowl, you don’t have to go looking for a new brand straight away. At Natural Code, every recipe has its own number, so a fussy cat gets variety without changing brand — just a different number.

Start with the main ingredient

Every pouch is built on one main ingredient, which makes up 58% of it. That’s chicken, tuna or sea bream. Pick the one your cat knows and carry on from there.

Main ingredient Numbers
Chicken P01, P03, P07
Tuna P02, P04, P05, P08, P09, P10, P12, P13, P14
Sea bream P06, P11

All fourteen numbers

Every pouch also contains cooking water and rice.

A simple composition or more flavours

P01 Chicken and P08 Tuna have the fewest ingredients: meat or fish, cooking water and rice. P01, P06, P08, P12 and P14 have one source of animal protein. P07 Chicken, Beef & Vegetables has the most ingredients: chicken and beef, carrots, peas and rice.

How to try them

One number at a time. Serve the pouch alongside a complete diet and let your cat decide. An empty bowl is the answer you were waiting for. Note that number down and try another next time. If the bowl isn’t empty, try a number with a different main ingredient.

If your cat stops eating altogether or refuses even what it normally likes, talk to your vet.

You’ll find the whole collection on the cat food pouches page. And you’ll learn how to read the label in the post Cat food pouches.
